We Advocate For YOU
- Therapist pay has not kept up with inflation over time, nor has it been adjusted for the increased educational burden of a DPT.
- The UPTA seeks to improve pay for clinicians and establish pay commensurate to the education level of new graduates.
- Physical Therapy research is not unique in the distribution challenges that face most clinical fields. The time from research date to clinical practice can be a decade or more.
- The UPTA seeks to improve efficiency and support novel methods of research distribution focused on improving clinical outcomes for patients.
- Therapists and assistants are seeing more patients to compensate for revenue losses.
- Non-stop prior authorizations and related tasks continue to require additional administrative personnel.
- The UPTA seeks to reduce the administrative burden so that therapists can provide patients the care they deserve without the challenges associated with more paperwork.
- There is no reason students should be paying $150k in graduate fees for a DPT.
- Where you receive your DPT does not matter. What matters is passing the board exam and taking your career where you want to go after graduating.
- The UPTA seeks to reduce the costs of education, but to also increase the actual pay of new graduates to be commensurate with the required level of education (see “Stagnant Pay” above). We will advocate for student loan forgiveness for those who work in rural areas.
