FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions.
Here are the answers to some of the most frequent questions we get asked.
We are physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and non clinicians from a variety of settings who seek an association that will focus on the Clinician Determinants of Health. We are you and we represent you.
We recognized the need for better representation of the day-to-day clinician in a professional association for therapy. We also recognized that those heavily invested in the profession’s success would also be great advocates.
We are not burdened with excessive administrative expenses, so we can utilize more of our revenue for advocacy and education for the profession.
As a 501c6, there is no limit to the amount of money that can be spent on lobbying and political issues as long as it is focused on the association’s mission.
We are committed to investing a significant portion of our resources into advancing our profession through a three-pronged strategy:
- Education: We will provide our members and the public with the knowledge and skills they need to be effective advocates and to navigate the complex healthcare landscape.
- Lobbying: We will work closely with policymakers to advocate for policies that support the profession and our patients.
- Litigation: We’re taking a proactive stance on healthcare equity and are actively researching legal options to challenge discriminatory practices and promote a more equitable environment for all providers.
To ensure that our leadership reflects the diverse needs of our membership, we have established a board structure that is representative of all practice settings based on workforce data. Our bylaws require that board seats be allocated in proportion to the workforce database on the percentage of the profession in each practice setting.
REMEMBER…
You, our members, will nominate and vote on board members, ensuring that your voices are heard in shaping the direction of the UPTA.
We are from all across the United States. From rural to urban, we represent you.
