Tell Congress to Pass the Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2024!
The time to take action is now! Over the past five years, Medicare cuts have taken a toll on physical therapy practices and limited access to essential care for patients. Year after year, physical therapy services have faced reductions, placing significant strain on providers and creating barriers to care for those who need it most.
Here’s What’s at Stake
Without urgent intervention, these cuts will continue to threaten our ability to deliver high-quality care to our patients. The Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2024 aims to stop this trend by:
- Eliminating the upcoming -2.8% Medicare conversion factor cut.
- Introducing a +1.8% increase in the conversion factor for 2025.
This bill will help stabilize our practices, ensuring that we can keep our doors open, retain skilled clinicians, and continue providing critical services to our communities.
Why This Matters to Patients and Providers
Ongoing cuts make it challenging for practices to absorb rising operational costs, forcing many to limit services or, in some cases, shut down entirely. This impacts Medicare beneficiaries’ access to vital physical therapy care, leaving many with fewer options for pain management, rehabilitation, and improved mobility.
What the UPTA Will Be Doing
We will be waiting until after the election to determine our advocacy efforts on behalf of this bill. However, efforts need to begin in earnest the week of November 11th to ensure strong support for this critical legislation.
